LINKS: a daily grouping puzzle
LINKS is a daily grouping puzzle. Twenty tiles hide five groups of four, and each group shares something: a category, a phrase they complete, or a less obvious connection.
Pick four tiles you think belong together and submit them. You can afford four mistakes. Setters plant tiles that look at home in more than one group, so the obvious four are not always the right four.
When you find a group you can try to name its link for bonus points, or skip and be told it.
How to play LINKS
- Twenty tiles hide five groups of four. Each group shares a link.
- Select four tiles you think belong together and submit them.
- You may make four mistakes. Some tiles look as if they belong in more than one group.
- After finding a group you may name its link for bonus points, or skip to see it.
Tips
- Before submitting anything, look for a tile that could only fit one group. Build outwards from there.
- If you can see five or six tiles for one category, that category is a trap. Work out which of them are needed elsewhere.
- Say the tiles aloud. Some links are about how words sound, or about a word that can go before or after each one.
- Leave the group you are least sure of until last: with four tiles left, it solves itself.
- When naming a link, plain wording is enough. Small spelling slips are forgiven.
Common questions
How many mistakes can I make?
Four. A fifth ends the game.
What is the link bonus?
After you find a group you may type what connects it. A correct description adds to your score; skipping costs nothing.
Do I have to find the groups in a set order?
No. Any order is fine.
Are the puzzles written by people?
Yes. LINKS is the one Puzzleroo game written by hand, with an automatic check that no tile belongs to two groups.
How is LINKS scored?
Out of 1,000, based on how few mistakes you make, how many links you name and how long you take.
A new puzzle every day
